OHSAS 18001 will be withdrawn in March 2021, after allowing a three year period of migration for organisations already certified to OHSAS 18001 to upgrade their OH&S management system.
If you're currently certified to OHSAS 18001 then you will need to migrate to ISO 45001. This is not a simple replacement "like for like" certification process. Company's have to go through a re-accrediation process.
This website is designed to provide expertise and knowledge to help you to upgrade your certification and get the most from ISO 45001.
The Big Picture
Health and safety in the workplace is THE NUMBER ONE concern (and hence pirority) of most businesses. Unfortunately, acidents, deaths and injuries still occur.
ISO 45001 sets the minimum standard of practice to help protect company stakeholders such as visitors, employees and contractors.
According to the International Labour Organisation (ILO), there are currently more than 2.78 million deaths a year as a result of occupational accidents or work-related diseases. This is in addition to 374 million non-fatal injuries and illnesses.
Aside from the enormous impact on families and communities, the cost to business and economies is significant. The ISO 45001 standard relates to Occupational health and safety management systems and details the requirements and guidance for use.
ISO 45001 is the world’s first International Standard for occupational health and safety (OH&S). It provides a framework to increase safety, reduce workplace risks and enhance health and well-being at work by enabling an organisation to proactively improve its OH&S performance.
Is ISO 45001 right for US?
ISO 45001 is applicable to all organisations, regardless of size, industry or nature of business. It is designed to be integrated into an organisation's existing management processes and follows the same high-level structure as other ISO management system standards, such as ISO 9001 (quality management) and ISO 14001 (environmental management).
